He waka eke noa! Working together!
Today was our first Teacher Only Day here at kura and I was lucky enough to be part of the Professional Leadership Development team facilitating this day. An important concept for our team was to build an understanding of 'He Waka Eke Noa' and how we as a staff need to work together to reach our goals. We are all kaihoe, paddlers on board our waka, and our journey is one that is shared and built on with a unified vision/goal.
The activities throughout our day provided great opportunities to mix and mingle, to learn more about each other and talk about our journey so far. My activity involved each person creating a hoe (paddle) that represented their grounding, strengths, goals and what support they needed. This is a work in progress and is the start of our journey as a PLD team, kaiako and kura. We all have strengths and every one of us have the ability to mentor others. What a team!
I look forward to the journey ahead.
